Poster was submitted in a call for entries for the 'Prison Nation' Exhibition at The Center for the Study of Political Graphics. The exhibition covers many of the critical issues surrounding the system of mass incarceration including: the death penalty, Three Strikes, racism, women's right to self defense, access to education and health care, sweatshop labor, divestment, privatization, torture, and re-entry into the community
This design was inspired after being completely dumb-struck on what types of prisoners this law is actually affecting. Individuals are serving life sentences for stealing batteries, receiving a stolen bicycle, or being in position of less than $15 worth of controlled substances. More information can be found at Families to Amend California's Three Strikes.
